Do you think ONLY linking to other sites with high page rank will increase rankings?

I have been having a discussion with people recently about linking to sites with High Page Rank.

Do you think ONLY linking to other sites with high page rank will increase your rankings dramatically at the search engines? . . . (Keyphrase - Increase Rankings at the Search Engines).

 • Brian Patterson: Hi , IMO I don't think linking OUT to other quality websites has a significant impact on your rankings. ;I think Matt Cutts alluded to the face that linking out to quality sites is something that quality sites do themselves, and some SEO's took that to mean that they needed to start linking out to all the top sites to get an edge. ;I just haven't seen it really result in ranking increases, though.
 • Richard Alveranga: Backlinks from high quality sites are just a fraction of what helps your website reputation. ;The search engines look at other factors such as frequent updates, how MANY links, how many pages in the site, keywords, etc. ;To focus ONLY on linking to high PR sites is another way to go nowhere fast in my opinion
 • Derar Barqawi: Yes! linking to high PR sites help in increasing ranking. Also, social signals is highly important for your site ranking..
 • Ranu Jain: Google says that the ranks will improve by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to your site.

Check out this post "Improve Your Site's Rank by Building High-Quality Sites, Not Links" -
