Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Mike Stetzer on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 09/25/2013).

What is your opinion of LogMyCalls or other call tracking services?

Does anyone have any experiences with LogMyCalls or any other call tracking service/application?

The company I work for currently doesn`t have call tracking, despite a significantly high call volume,  and I would love to put something in place that integrates with Google Analytics (and doesn`t harm SEO).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

  • Tim Capper: One of my hotel clients put this in place, each property would have a different number displayed, etc. About 3 months after it was installed our rankings started dropping and traffic decreased. I looked at everything and the only thing that had changed was installing the call tracking. I spoke to JM in a webmaster central hangout and he took a look and said the way it had been implemented should be OK - so back to square 1. I spent another month sifting through everything - nada After the 6 month trial the company decided that it was not of benefit and removed the tracking from site - Hey presto everything started returning to normal. So what I can say is this : Google offficially said it was OK and implemented correctly Personally my own personal feeling, something funky went wrong, and returned when it was removed. So... if you are going to use : Check the company out thoroughly Implement on site correctly Take it on a 6 month trial
