Site wide links are not recommended unless they are "nofollow" so you are probably safer without them.
Brent Wildman: Some sitewide links are fine, even if they are "follow". Having a majority of your back link profile be sitewide links is not a good thing however. ;
Tim Capper: And depending also on the "anchor" - but i would say on a whole, no loss.
Brent Wildman: Agreed. Unless those are the only links they have, but if that's the case they should take a step back and think about their link strategy.
Tim Capper: If that was their only link .... they did not have a linking strategy .. :)
Marie Dalia: +Tim Capper ;+Brent Wildman ;The widget was not created to do any sort of link building strategy. The "links" generated from it only represent a small minority of the total ;links, so I guess there's nothing to be worried about then...
Brian Smith: Nothing wrong with a site wide from something that is highly relevant to your website/niche, although google is more than likely only giving weight to one or two of those at the most- more than likely from the linking site's most equitable page(s). Widget linking can be tricky because it can end up making the majority of links in your site's profile site-wides from places that have nothing to do with your niche. Depends on the what the widget offers.
Omar Mossadek: Losing all the site-wide links is not the end of the world, most of which were not adding any more value, that if there were only a handful in the first place. I would only be concerned with any highly targeted referral traffic that those links may have been sending you.
Marie Dalia: +Brian Smith ;+Omar Mossadek ;Glad to hear that. Thank you for all your answers guys!
