How to name product pages?

Hello again, I`m wondering about product pages for a client site.
There are 10 products, all starting with the company name.
Is it wrong to name the pages like this?
*company product A
*company product B
*company product C

Now that I`m writing this out, it seems kinda dumb to do it this way but, I still want to check with the pros.  Thanks guys.

  • Dave Elliott: important keywords at the start is better for seo. So product A - company name is better.
  • Chris M Cloutier: That makes sense, thanks Dave
  • Simon Fryer: Unless you're having problems performing for branded queries I'd switch it up. The only instance I would put the brand name first is if the product is unique to your client and users are likely to include a brand modifier in their search. Even then the fact it's on your client's domain should cover that base.

    Product A from Company Name

    (I hate page title pipes!)

  • Chris M Cloutier: +Simon Fryer ;I guess the product isn't really unique to the client.  ;She is a distributor for a company.  ;I think people searching will be searching for the brand name more than the actual products.  ;

    That was my thinking in putting the name first but I'm afraid of it giving me duplicate titles or some other issues.

    And for some reason I'm having difficulty ranking for the brand..which is ridiculously low comp...ugh
  • Simon Fryer: Ah okay, I have some experience working with ecommerce distributors.

    When you say people are searching for the 'brand name' do you mean the manufacturer's brand, or the distributor's?

    As the distributor you should never really need to optimise for your own brand name unless it's a randomly competitive one. Provided your technical SEO is up to scratch it's just a matter of time.

    Ranking for the supplier brand is going to tougher, as you're normally competing with them and their other distributors, but it's achievable; I've found that many manufacturers have been slow to invest online and can be beaten.

    If it's the manufacturer's brand you're targeting (which I assume it is) I'd target that term at a category level and also optimise the product titles: brand - product - client company.

    There's a few other reasons for doing this but I fear this post might have become a wall of text. Hope it helps!
  • Chris M Cloutier: +Simon Fryer ; That was really helpful.  ;I think you might be right about some of the basic SEO.  ;I have a feeling there might be some issues there as well.  ;Thank you for your help.
  • Simon Fryer: You're welcome +Chris M Cloutier. I'd certainly delve into your technical SEO to make sure it's on point - it really is the foundation for organic search. ;
