Dumb SEO Questions

Should Google apply/adhere to ethical principles or not?

Ethics: should G set it or not?

These days G is stating that most links should be nofollowed. However webmastesr will see the message send from G as no-links at all. So to me it is G`s problem and, thereby, G is promoting practices like these.

I don`t disagree with the article, but 14 months later, I would argue that people should disable everything (excluding wikipedia, G properties, FB, etc) because that is the message G is sending and one is black hat if you do.

That leads me to the next issue. To me there is a huge inflation on black hat. G is putting out things that are (in their point a view) black hat. And those things are frequently against what a business should do. Therefore, G is putting themselves outside the society. With that isn`t G the one that is outside of our social boundaries and thereby G is doing black hat.?

  • Micah Fisher-Kirshner: Shouldn't this be under SEO Questions? :)
  • Rob Wagner: Agree with you +Micah Fisher-Kirshner ;it would make a good question for DSQ.  ;This is kinda what I was talking about after the hangout +W.E. Jonk ;.  ;
    Some of Google's guidelines seem to be in conflict with good business marketing. I think it comes down to not counting something and punishing a behavior. Big difference between the two.
  • Jim Munro: Well, since it's not specifically a question, I think the appropriate place is in this News community, it will still be discussed with the same zeal. :)
  • W.E. Jonk: It is more of a statement, therefore I posted it here. ;
