What is the best tool/website for checking the history of a domain name?

Hey I have a quick question related for SEO purposes. What is the best tool/website for checking the history of a domain name? For example, say I`m looking to purchase a new domain name to start a brand new website, but I want to check that domain`s history to make sure it wasn`t used in the past or was penalized by Google. ?

  • Nicolas Andrews: Hi, I will suggest something else. SEMrush have a historical data option chart. If you are at the Guru Level or enterprise you will be able to see if that site's traffic dropped suddenly. If yes that means was penalised. Also you can use majesticseo to check the back links. Choose the historical data option and you will be able to see if they was spamming. Hope this help.
