Panda 4.0 solutions wanted.

I have a site that was hit very hard by Panda 4.0. The bounce rate is very high (about 80%) so Ive been looking at the data for when people are on the site and the engagement etc and Im puzzled about the data Im seeing for avg. session duration, avg. time on page and dession durations. The avg. session duration is 01:03 (1 min 3 seconds) and over 50% of the pageviews apprently had session durations of 0 - 10 seconds yet the avg. time on page is 03:09 ( 3mins 9 seconds) I went through the top 250 viewed pages (which was by far the vast proportion of the sites traffic) and not a single one of them was below 1:20 so why are the numbers for the session durations so low??

  • Jason Nelson: What niche or type of website is it?
  • David Jones: its a web design & dev blog/magazine site, I heard from other publishers that many other sites in this niche got hit hard by Panda 4.0 too
  • Jason Nelson: I would focus more on the content quality than session duration. Audit the content and look at your pages as objectively as possible.  ;Is it thin, duplicate, or simply of little value?  ;You would want to consider consolidating content, eliminating pages, and adding new content. Bringing in outside help can provide perspective and a more unbiased opinion on what is needed.

The cuetimes listed on this page are functional while the live broadcast continues and also once Youtube has finished processing the public broadcast. Processing time varies between 6-24 hours. During this period the clip is viewable in full but the cuetimes cannot be relied on.

  • David Jones: Thanks guys, John Britsios that technical efficiency filter was very helpful as it turns out that the avg page load times is 24 seconds so I guess that is the problem here?
