Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Lindsey Siegele on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 03/13/2015).

Replicating a blog across multiple sites.

Looking for some opinions. My business has a corporate office and then several locations throughout the country. We have a main website for the brand itself, and then each market area has its own website. Our main goal has been to drive traffic to the market websites, as each is slightly unique in its services, and we also want to target our SEO toward individual market areas. None of these websites has a blog, but we`re interested in generating content and starting one. It would be a huge challenge to generate enough content for all of the individual sites, but we don`t want to use the exact same content on all of them, in case that hurts us in search rankings. What do you think is the best method for this? We could noindex the content on all the sites but one? Or maybe there`s some sort of frame we could put on all the sites that the main blog would feed into? Any suggestions are welcome. Thank you!?

  • Promoz SEO: The best policy would be to create fresh contents for each site/blog consistently. ;Noindex will stop those locations specific sites to rank on SERP.
  • Neeraj Pandey: You can use hreflang on each site.. Duplicate content does not penalize you so dont worry if you have seggregated your websites to different locations
  • Promoz SEO: Hreflang can't be used for different locations of a country. This annotation can be used only for languages and regions.
  • Neeraj Pandey: Agree with promoz
