  • Rob Maas: They (Google) must have read your post : http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.nl/2015/03/an-update-on-doorway-pages.html
  • Birgit Rickert: thank you!
  • Marta Gryszko: I was about to give the same link ;)

    Remember you can optimize your site for more than one city. Just mention about 3 cities (instead one one) in the title tag ang in the main content.
  • Paul Davis: +Rob Maas TNW put the article out a few hours ago, Excellent clarification, yet I read it with a certain amount of surprise. I have always assumed that practice black hat. But there must be some folks smarting here, having paid a fortune for the "experts" to change things, only now having to pay again to put things back.

    Personally I changed policy a couple of years ago sticking with page titles and good content. I dumped many meta tags as useless like search bot revisit tags....... a total waste of time. But after reading the article I may change a thing or two on the total web site rebuild we are currently doing. The current site is being deleted in a few days, after 10 years I think it needed refreshing in a more modern style!
  • Gregory Kristan: Great article +Rob Maas ;, your client can also go down the PPC route if they really wanted to target the exact cities for their campaign. I liked what +Marta Gryszko ;said too. If the service is in one state, you can say that you offer your services in (x, y, z) cities. You can also have a quick directions page on your site that gives directions from a city or two to your actual location. ;
