Is there a way to optimize my Local placement?

  Brian Wilson: Hello All, I guess i finally stopped at the gas station to ask for directions! lol.. I've had good success getting my site to the top pages organically but I cant seem to get google places put me in the top three.  ;Is there a way to optimize my placement?  ;Or does anyone know how it determines which business gets listed? Any help is greatly appreciated.

  Have you filled up all the fields on GMB tool?
  Do you have any duplicate listing on GMB?
  Are you building citation with consistent NAP?
  Have you marked up your NAP on your site with Structured Data?
  Are you collecting reviews on GMB and other third party sites?
  Do you have location specific keywords on main positions of your webpages?
  Are you building authority links from good sites?
  Are you active on you G+ local page?
  
  You need to make sure these things to get a good local rank.
