Referral Traffic from my own domai

One of my Client is getting Referral Traffic from his own domain , like www.xyz.com , We did 301 Redirect to only one Version of the website almost 6 months ago but still getting referral traffic , Can any one please let me know what could be the problem?

Adrian DeGus: You can specify in GA what URLs you don't want to be considered as referring URLs. I've had to do this a few times for mobile sub domains.
Richard Hearne: Did you check your server logs?

One thing that comes to mind - did any of your devs ever update their .hosts file to point old domain at new IP locally?
