Linking to social media page with redirect

Got a client who created redirects for all his social accounts: Ex: www.hiscompany.com/facebook redirects to his company Facebook page, www.hiscompany.com/twitter redirects to his company twitter etc... Any time he links to social within his site he uses the above links. Any thoughts on this from an SEO linking stand point?

  • Jeremy L. Knauff: No benefit.
  • Alan Bleiweiss: Not only is there no benefit for SEO, it can be a bit confusing for site visitors who see the links. The only benefit I can think of is he can track clicks to each. Except any good analytics program can be set to track outbound link clicks without the go-between page.
  • Francois-Pierre Marcil: Ask your client if he`s doing that to accumulate more link equity at the domain level and then tell him: it doesn`t work like this fine sir.
  • Doc Sheldon: Yeah... can`t imagine what they thought that would gain them
