When I check my site in the Google structured data tool I am getting two errors. Can someone tell me how to fix these please?

2.) Email verification has not established authorship for this webpage.

  • Tony McCreath: The first issue I've seen on a few WordPress sites. I looked into a solution but it was a bit convoluted so didn't bother. It's highly unlikely it will have any effect on the website.

The second one means you have not properly verified your authorship status. I believe the error text contains a link to how you can do that.
  • Marilyn Lesniak: +Tony McCreath thanks a lot! I am such a perfectionist but I can let the total geek answers go. :). The second one I will google. I always forget to do that when an answer doesn't rear it's head. I work on a mobile ( I know, NEVER a good idea. Especially google related. I will get on a desktop somewhere tomorrow. Again thx so much!
  • Tony McCreath: Here's the solution to 1 that I found: ;http://fivera.net/hatom-feed-hatom-entry-error-wordpress-solution/

    And stuff on authorship:
    https://plus.google.com/authorship
  • Ritu Ahuja: +Marilyn Lesniak For the second one you have to go to your about page of google plus account and there would be a field - contributor to, add your domain name there and then from structured data testing tool you can verify your google plus account. Authorship will establish. :)
  • Ritu Ahuja: And for the last one "automatically detected author name" you have to add 'byline' on every post that would be 'by author name'. :)
  • Marilyn Lesniak: +Ritu Ahuja. Thx! How do I add byline?
  • Ritu Ahuja: +Marilyn Lesniak You are on blogger or wordpress? Or you have your own domain?
  • Ritu Ahuja: You can add byline in the footer of the template. Either you can add a code or edit the template footer. :)
  • Marilyn Lesniak: +Ritu Ahuja I am on wordpress.org, so I use the help html code, change to my info, and it will show in my footer? Does that replace my footer credits? Thank you o much.
  • Marilyn Lesniak: +Tony McCreath thanks. I bought that plugin for convenience sake!
  • Steffan Hernandez: If you decide to use the code in footer approach make sure that only displays on posts that are appropriate for Google Authorship.

If you throw the rel author code in the footer you could potentially attribute authorship markup to your entire site - which would most likely include pages that should not contain authorship.
  • Ritu Ahuja: +Marilyn Lesniak You are welcome. Lemme know if you face any other issue. :-)
  • Marilyn Lesniak: +Steffan Hernandez thanks! (My footer cuts of lines after 1 full. Line 2 is cut in half. But good to know!
