Domain Authority on our site has been dropping steadily since early Feb

Hello, the Domain Authority on our site has been dropping steadily since early Feb. I know it is Moz #, I started checking backlinks. Is it still a good idea to disavow bad links? I thought Google said we didn`t have to do that anymore. Checking GA and Google Search as well for organic traffic to site- site traffic is up. Anything else I should do? Look for? NO need to respond until asap. I appreciate any feedback.

  • Alan Bleiweiss: Failure to disavow backlinks can still, and does, expose a site to a manual action or manual penalty. This has not changed. Further, as advanced as Penguin has gotten, there is still a lot of imperfection. So if you want to work on sustainable success premises, I recommend to my clients to routinely monitor links, update disavow as needed, and use that to get a more accurate understanding of where the site actually is, without the aid of artificial, or otherwise toxic link signals.

  • Doc Sheldon: The fastest I`ve ever seen any substantial improvement from nothing more than a disavow file was in the case of a manual action getting lifted. And in that case, I can`t say with any confidence that the disavow had any direct effect on the improvement. In fact, I doubt it.
