YOUR ANSWERS

Selected answers from the Dumb SEO Questions Facebook & G+ community.

  • Jared Jeffery: Conference Venues in Oregon, if u had just Conference venues then u could list multiple states under but if u are going for just Oregon then include in the h1

  • Bryce Adams: Jared Jeffery ok thanks, yes there are other pages for other regions

  • Stockbridge Truslow: Keep in mind that if the content within the sections that follow the headings are the most important thing.

Your h1 should be the focus of the entire page. Your h2s should be specific aspects of that main thing.

Keep in mind that you`re in a niche dealing with events - which typically has a fairly well established knowledge graph in Google - though I suppose that depends upon the specific niches.

When you`re dealing with the knowledge graph, you`re no longer really playing the "Match The Keyword" game - you`re matching entities and giving them relationships. So it`s not the keywords "Event Venues" and "Oregon" - it`s about establishing that you have a list of entities that are "Event Venues" and that they are "Oregon"

  • Buth Main: Google (and other search engines) do not use h-tags to "understand" content. So, you can use h4 Category and h1 region, or vice versa. It makes no difference.

  • Perry Bernard: H-tags are overrated. What matters more is that it has good content and sits above the body copy like a title to signal the meaning of the body.
