What`s the purpose of Business Listing in SEO?
When it comes to off-page and link-building, why do SEOs go for business listing? How does this help my website ranking on Google if I submit my website on the Business Listing site?
For example, If I want to buy a "Vitamin C Facewash" product, I will obviously visit skincare brands` websites. I have never visited a business listing website in my life before becoming an SEO.

Christine Hansen: Are you thinking about Google My Business? Anywho, this is a channel like website, facebook, instagram, newsletter, youtube, radio spots etc etc also are channels. If you sell locally, then GMB is a must-have on so many levels. SEO-wise business name, categories, website and reviews are of interest. If you sell globally, keep away from GMB.

Tim Capper: Google My Business are for local businesses. It sounds like yours may only be online and therefore would be ineligible for a GMB profile.
Stockbridge Truslow: A lot of times it depends upon the niche. Service industries, for example, tend to generate good leads if they have a well managed reputation on sites like Yelp or Angie`s List or whatever. Certain niches have respected "industry only" type sites, too - like Healthgrades for doctors.

These sites typically won`t (directly) help your rankings, but if people are visiting them for advice on where to shop or who to hire, then it can help sending leads to you - and leads that have already decided that you are among the best they were seeing on their chosen business listing site.
