Including keywords in image alt text

Hi, real beginner here!I`m just learning about including keywords in image alt text. My question is how do you do this well if there`s no way to get a keyword into the literal image description? EG you are using the image as a visual representation of an abstract concept? Can you for example describe the picture and then add "...illustrating article about keyword"?

  • Christine Hansen: Think of the visually impaired / blind people - what would you like them to know about the picture when their software reads the alt text out loud for them? In the very very early days, the alt text was built for visually impaired people. Stick to this knowledge, and you will never go wrong.

  • Zachary Toto: Yeah, when SE optimizing, be user oriented and you won`t go wrong.

  • Alissa Janiecce: Yes. Your example is correct. You can do that

  • Michael Zittel: ALT tags are HTML mark up in the img tag itself. Your CMS should allow this, or you have to hand code it. Here`s a code site you might want to explore. https://www.w3schools.com/tags/att_img_alt.asp
