What the game is and should I care or not?

Hey. A backlink to my site popped up on semrush. When I checked it, it`s 100% my article. looks like it`s been run through an AI program to make it not plagiarized. But the infographic is mine (though they left my site identification on the image) and they left the backlinks to my site (that were internal links on my original article). The site has a DA of 1, organic search traffic of 3, organic keywords of 5. I`m just trying to figure out what the game is and if I care or not. anyone?

  • Mark Ketzler: I ignore this stuff from sites with no visibility. If a site with the same authority or greater than mine I send a letter and then do a DMCA takedown if no response.

  • Stockbridge Truslow: I`d treat it like a free link. It may not count for much now, but it might. Or the site could grow and gain value over time. You won`t really have much claim on the content to have them remove it - though the infographic probably could be. But if the infographic is watermarked with your logo/URL as it should be (because you`re trying to encourage sharing of it anyway) then you`ve got a win there, too.

You had nothing to do with this happening, so while Google may not reward you for it, they also should not have any inkling to penalize you for it either. So "nothing" is the worst case, and possible benefit from it is the best case.
