Should I shift my focus to backlinks or keep writing articles?

I launched a new blog in the pets niche. New domain. After 9 months, I have 70 articles and 50% of them are ranking in the 20s. But because the niche is so competitive, those rankings are not generating organic traffic. Still no domain authority. Should I shift my focus to backlinks or keep plowing away at writing articles?

Buth Main: Maybe the content is a problem. If your niche is competitive, your pages are ranking in the 50-90s (but they are still generating relevant traffic). I think you should start with a content audit and keywords analysis.

Also, securing some high-quality niche relevant backlinks from time to time can help you rank higher and get some relevant traffic to your pages.
