What kind of campaign do you recommend me for a political campaign?

  Greg Baka: Put a lot of effort into figuring out search terms to target. You'll only get one shot at it. ; One good fast method is to run some Google Adwords campaigns to learn what related phrases people actually use. If it is for a local election you can limit the display of your ads to only the area your voters live in. This will greatly reduce the cost of these exploratory ad campaigns.

  Collin Davis: as +Greg Baka mentioned, paid might be the best way to get reach and visibility. Banner ads on popular political forums as well as targeting like minded groups on Facebook will be a good start.
  
  Definitely have a website for the same. I know its a short time frame but at least 4-5 page website shouldn't take much time to build and a few basic optimization techniques could see traffic being driven to the website.

  You can do a teaser campaign. A teaser campaign (according to Wikipedia) consists of a series of small, cryptic, challenging advertisements that anticipate a larger, full-blown campaign for a product launch or otherwise important event. What you want to achieve is that people are getting curious to the cryptic message and thereby going to search it, look it up on social media, etcetera. ;
  
  However it can be risky (like anything that is fast) but if done well you can fill your database with emails, likes, and more. Namely because you are making people curious it can be quite a disappointment when they know who or what it is. Meaning that you cannot full fill the expectations. And people are going to view it as lame. Also don't make the teasing too long (only a couple of weeks, let say three). Most people don't have a long attention span.
