  • Chantal Brown: So I just looked at my Google Webmaster and it says "missing author".  ;Does anybody know how to fix this?
  • Prajjwal Byanju: simply remove authorship schema code i think it will work for that
  • Chantal Brown: How do I do that and where?
  • Prajjwal Byanju: just remove google authorship verification which you have done or talk with your programmer to remove authorship markup code from your site that may really works for you ;
  • Edwin Jonk: First this has nothing to do with authorship. Namely this error appears because of microformats that are setup in the template [1] (I guess WordPress).

    Second, within GWT if you click on the "Page URL" there is a button "Test live data". Can you share that URL [2]?

    [1] ;http://microformats.org/wiki/hentry#Entry_Author
    [2] It will be something like ;https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=example.com/test.html
  • Chantal Brown: Is it this one?

  • Chantal Brown: Or this one?

  • Edwin Jonk: Not sure if this is helpful because you need to edit the WP template. Basically you are missing the author mention and link. ;

    For (example) Twenty Fourteen the author byline is coming from the twentyfourteen_posted_on() function in inc/template-tags.php on line 107.
  • Chantal Brown: I'm lost….. :(
  • Edwin Jonk: Well you need to edit your theme... Let me ping +Tony McCreath ;because he is smart. He has a doctorate, as far as I know.
  • Tony McCreath: I know what the word doctorate means ;-)

    I vote for +Edwin Jonk ;answer. It is probably some microformat markup that does not include an author parameter. Clicking on the error should provide more details on it. ;

    Nothing to panic about but it may help in the future if it is added. ;
