Federico Sasso: Sitelinks are those sub-links appearing on SERP when you google for a company name. They point to subpages Google believes are relevant. You don't have a direct way to state which pages can be listed as Sitelinks, but you can "demote them" if they do not satisfy you. No site ranking benefits whatsoever.
Jim Munro: One reason you would demote a sitelink is for a Christmas season page in January or a Valentines Day page in March. Unless they have changed it, a demotion only lasts 90 days...
