Jen Holzman: If it is a considerable amount of spammy backlinks, you'll have to use the disavow tool
Ligatures.Net: On top of disavowing those links, report them to Google (via their forum), ;because they may identify pattern and neutralize these sites before they start harming. Google welcomes such information.
