YOUR ANSWERS

Selected answers from the Dumb SEO Questions Facebook & G+ community.

  • Elioenai Magboo: No. as long as it has xml sitemap and you submitted it then its ok.
  • Francois-Pierre Marcil: You don`t control the reindexing of a site. Just keep your XML sitemap up to date.
  • Scott Clark: XML site maps are NOT required. Your site will be indexed with or without an XML site map. HOWEVER... sitemaps can help Google locate "nooks and crannies" of your pages.

The future may be different. Bing and Google are both showing signs towards rewarding "ingesting" sitemaps to save on computing power required for crawling. I think the future will be more feed, less crawl.
  • Ryan Logan: Just adding to what the others have already said, you can use the URL inspection option in the new GSC, to jump start the indexing. The last step of my content checklist is “inspect” the URL.
  • Ryan Jones: You don’t need to do anything and you don’t need an xml sitemap. Those are just band aids for bad internal Navigation.
