  When we search the indexed pages of a site using site: Google Operator, how the pages are ranked in the SERP? Is there any criteria? Can we deduce some analytical value with this?
  
  Just a thought: can we think that the most valuable or popular page is on top and the next is second?

  Dave Elliott: using the moz toolbar to have a look it doesn't seem to be ordered by page authority or number of inbound links, so i am not sure.
  
  Adding a search term however, does bring up a more logical set of results.

  Federico Sasso: Google when asked has said not to try to make a sense about it.
  It might give some clue, but some minor pages often slip in in higher position. As a developer, my guess is it reflects some internals not related to page importance (when queried without a search term).
  BTW: this is a deja-vu for me, it reminded I asked the very same question here a few years ago :)
