Does Google Crawl Webpages with Query Strings?

Does Google Crawl Webpages with Query Strings Instead of Permalinks?
The old website did not have a permalink structure. All urls looked similar to abc.c0m/?page_id=19 or abc.c0m/?page_id=21. Did Google even crawl those pages? Do I need to set up redirects to the new urls with permalinks? THANKS!

YOUR ANSWERS

Selected answers from the Dumb SEO Questions Facebook & G+ community.

  • David Gossage: Yes it crawls parameters. Treats them the same as any other url unless instructed otherwise

  • Richard Hearne: Yes, you should set up redirects if URLs for your content changed.

  • Bill Hartzer: They can crawl any urls that they find. So first off, if you don’t want them to crawl urls with query strings, then make sure your site isn’t linking to them.
