When checking out competitors, does anyone else ever come across a website that makes you think “you really should not be here” and yet they are in the top 5 for your chosen search term? Based on the audit results, sometimes I’m completely thrown out by how a certain site ranks so well whilst it seems to disregard several metrics

Michael Martinez: No one signal is supposed to guarantee rankings. Websites often rank in spite of themselves.

Sam Hogan: Michael Martinez I found a site the other day in the top 3 which wasn’t responsive, and another which was unsecure, yet it’s best practice to “tick that box”. I’m curious to know how much damage it would make to an already, well ranking site if those aspects were removed

Ash Nallawalla: When I was in an insurance company, for one of the insurance terms, a page with an enquiry form from a company called iSelect ranked on page 1. There was very little text on that page. These things happen and it`s not worth the effort to analyse why. Today, the same page has a ton of text below the form, but I`ve been out of insurance a couple of years, so have not kept tabs.
