Can Avg Session Duration affect ranking?

Google changes search result rankings to give their users best results.. Now if the Average visit time on our site is more than others then it clearly tells google that our site is better than others..  Can we rank just because of good visit time of users which shows our site should be on the top????

  • Edwin Jonk: No. Google has no access to your site analytic nor do they use Google analytics for search. But they do track pogosticking [1].

    [1] A rather old article but it does explain pogosticking well, imo:

  • Collin Davis: +Edwin Jonk No. Google has no access to your site analytic nor do they use Google analytics for search.

    While that might be the official statement by Google, I find this hard to believe :)

  • Ryan Cramer: "Google and its wholly owned subsidiaries may retain and use, subject to the terms of its privacy policy, information collected in Your use of the Service" - from the GA Terms of service.  ;In other words, Google, as a SEARCH engine DOES have access to your site analytics for use in search. ;

    Regarding length of time on site, attempting to keep people on the site longer used to be called "link bait".  ;I recommend focusing on the 3-click rule (3 clicks to your goal page) and increasing re-visits, as link bait has been frowned upon by Google for well over 10 years.
