  • W.E. Jonk: What people report is that the click-through-rate is higher when rich snippets are displayed. Of course Google does track the click-through-rate and they even serve it in Google Webmaster Tools. But if Google is using that click-through-rate for their search results or if they use other analytic data which they gather on their own properties like google.com is something that I don't know. Although there are people that I highly respect that think that Google is using analytic data (not Google analytics but data they track on their own properties like google.com) for the ranking purposes.

Makes sense? Or do you mean something else?
  • Justin Y: I don't know about it boosting rank but I do believe it helps search engines understand the level of importance and makes things easier for coders. I think it's a good practice for most coders and less clutter when it comes to coding. I don't know exactly what you mean by replacing anchor text.
