Dumb SEO Questions

Is this dunce-hat spam?

I stumbled over this today and have two questions:

Would it work?
Should you do it?

From what I understand it`s a WordPress plugin that monitors your search traffic. It picks up search terms and automatically creates a new post related to those terms using an article spinner.

Then after 3 days it 301 redirects the spun post to your landing page.

Rinse and repeat.

I personally don`t see how spammy articles can gain any ranking to pass on in 3 days.

  • Ian Dixon: The very mention of the phrase `article spinner` saw me switch off straightaway +Tony McCreath because they simply produce rubbish content. Now the produced content may rank briefly. That is until the search engines notice that it was spun.
Content can be re-purposed with some rewriting by a human to make a new article that is both unique and readable by a human. Spinning software may gain some in SERPs but it hurts the overall quality of the site.
    Avoid in other words
  • Justin Y: Seems like gray hat to me. Basically you`d be creating a ton of 301s to the same page, I don`t think Google would like that. I agree with +Ian Dixon too about the quality. Next!
