Question about sitemap for Wordpress site

  Raman Mehrotra:  ;Sitemap Question: Hi Team, When submitting a Yoast xml sitemap from a Wordpress website, there are sitemap options like page, posts, media attachments, taxanomies tags, categories etc.
  
  I understand most important is to choose page and posts but what about media attachments, taxanomies tags, categories ?
  
  Also which other options we should look at in the sitemap xml setup ? Still looking for answer, wrong submission can cause problem.

  Edwin Jonk: Media attachments: WordPress makes pages for every media attachment like images. Personally I noindex them (think it is the default setting in Yoast...). Therefore there is no need to add them to a Sitemap. But (as far as I know) it doesn't hurt. Furthermore, the URL's to the images are already in the ;post-sitemap.xml.... ;
  
  Personally I leave the category open for index. Therefore I don't check that checkbox. In other words, the yoast plugin is creating a Sitemap for categories.
  
  Tag pages can be useful but they are not my favourite. Therefore I noindex them and similar to the media attachments I check the checkbox meaning it will not create a Sitemap.
