Google weighs H1 tags different than a page`s body text. Would the same thing apply to an H1 class?

Example: Paragraph text gets the H1 style

Can I use that without fear that Google will interpret it as a Headline??

  • Andrei Gherghel: The H tags are used as heading elements while the class attribute specifies one or more classnames for an element.The class attribute is mostly used to point to a class in a style sheet. However, it can also be used by a JavaScript (via the HTML DOM) to make changes to HTML elements with a specified class. So, class and H1 are 2 different things. No search engine would confuse and element with a class.
