Organically ranking a site

*What areas do you think are currently the most important in organically ranking a site for a particular keyword?*
1) Keyword in anchor text of external & internal back links
2) Internal link structure
3) Keyword density in content, title, description, alt tags, h1 tag etc

  • Janaki Raman: Keyword density in content, title, description, alt tags, h1 tag ;
  • Blade S: Avoid using keyword-rich anchor texts, especially in backlinks. I wouldn't use keywords at all in there.

    Avoid keyword stuffing in content as well. Keywords are still important today, but not as they were in the past, when people were calculating density and stuff like that.

    Meta descriptions are not a ranking factor, so putting a keyword there won't help your rankings. Meta descriptions can help your CTR, though, if written properly.
