Dumb SEO Questions

(Entry was posted by Sajid Iqbal on this post in the Dumb SEO Questions community on Facebook, 02/11/2015).

Negative SEO or Hacked site.

A page on my website seems to have been spammed, ie out of the blue there are around 110, 000 backlinks to this one page, from weird websites.

I have deleted the page.
The question is, do I need to do anything else or will google realise the page is gone and therefore them links are no longer relevant ?

Thanks?

  • Pe lagic: Change your password(s) immediately and then remove the hack(s)
  • Sajid Iqbal: Thank You.
When you say remove the hacks, do you mean the 2 pages you mentioned above ?
How can I find out if there are more pages, or something else underlying ?

I have deleted the files which I knew where malicious, is there any way of checking to see if there are any more malicious files ?

Fixing hacks is usually beyond most people because it's not what we usually do. If you are willing to try a paid solution, for $99 Sucuri will rectify hacks and monitor your site for a year. They do good work.
