  Serge Daigneault: I tried to find information about a websitre that make a 301 redirect from his homepage (domain name : ;http://www.abc.com/) to a secondary page that become the HP (http://www.abc.com/boutique). And his impact on SEO. If there is somebody who can help me? Thank!

  PromozSEO: Google will index this http://www.abc.com/boutique and not this ;http://www.abc.com/ provided they mentioned the same thing on the canonical tag. i.e ;<link rel=canonical href=“http://www.abc.com/boutique” /> on the boutique ;page.

  Serge Daigneault: Thank for your answer. I believe that using a secondary page instead of the real domain name, will not help to increase his dom ain long term authority. Also, majority of Internet users will generally add the domain name as hyperlink rather than the ;http://www.abc.com/boutique. I saw this often. Do you experimented that kind of situation; and if not, why you won't make this choice?

  PromozSEO: It will make a low impact as they have used 301 redirection (according to you) so the link juice and all authority (around 95%) ;from the domain will pass on to the ;boutique page. Any website who links to their domain name will not make any big differences because if any visitor clicks on that link they will land on the ;boutique page.
  We haven't experimented this kind of redirection and will not suggest either.

   ;It appears to me that they are trying to strengthen the /boutique page and funnel all the link juice they have ; (the home page being the strongest concentrator of inbound links) to it. If this category/page is their top seller (and all the other products are somewhat on the background or they merely complement this product), then it is an interesting approach to test actually.
