Keywords which are generating leads

Guys, I really need your help.

I am working for a big national company. They want to know the keywords which are generating leads from both SEO and Adwords.

Suppose they get a lead from "John" they want to know where it comes from and which keyword john typed while searching which generated the lead?

How can i find that out?

  • Marta Gryszko: The first thing is you need to set some goals in Google Analytics. Have you already done it?
  • Yogesh Dhawan: Yes, it tells me the number of enquiries from each platform but nothing else. ;

    What i need is that when i get a contact form, the keyword should also come with the contact form which customer typed when searching.
  • James Maabadi: Sounds like you'll need to setup Goals in Analytics.  ;This is usually done by tracking the 'thank you' URL page after your form submission.
  • Federico Sasso: Analytics traffic is anonymized by design, no way you can get it out of the platform alone.

    For traffic coming from AdWord, you might be able to save the keyword along with your lead datum if you don't use auto-tagging and modify your backend code to handle within your server session the keyword read from utm_keyword on the landing page, but better check first if you are not violating Analytics/AdWords terms of service.

    For traffic coming from organic search, you also miss that bit of information which is the keyword.
