Kenny needs a good CMS for SEO

Hi, i have a question. I`m about to start doing SEO for my uncle`s company and our website sucks. Here`s is the list of problems:  Our website is not responsive, which means we have a separate mobile site from the desktop site ( meaning double the work). Our code is a mess because our current programmer made too many changes to the template and i learned from SEO ( i`m a rookie) that having messy code can affect rankings. Our site is not as fast as it should be and customers complain all the time. My question to you guys is, what`s the best option for me right now in terms of finding a website that i can easily manage myself. What i mean by that is, i want to get a beautiful site that i can manage banners, input email marketing and videos/pictures/content myself, instead of having a programmer do that. I feel like i can do that myself. I`ve researched many great website builders like wix, duda and wordpress. I want to hear your intake on what website to get so i can start fixing our SEO.

  • Rick Bucich: Hello +kenny duarte - sounds like WordPress is a logical fit if you get it tuned. Mobile optimization is straight forward, there are some effective plugins for most needs. Although folks think of it as a blog platform, it is very useful as a basic CMS as well. Once up and running, it doesn't require deep coding skills to make maintenance edits. Not familiar with Duda, Wix is probably too basic and I see too many of their sites struggle in organic search.
  • Ricardo Vidallon: WordPress or Joomla are good choices.
  • Tyler Groskreutz: Wix and duda mobile are terrible options if you're looking for anything other than a stop gap measure. Get a site built with a CMS like WordPress.
  • kenny duarte: +Tyler Groskreutz ;CMS means?
  • kenny duarte: +Rick Bucich ;Thanks for replying. How do you suggest i get started? Lynda videos, ebook? I need to chnage the website asap
  • Rick Bucich: CMS = content management system. WordPress devepers are usually pretty easy to find and can save you a bunch of learning curve time. I've found them simply via circle of friends in the past. Referrals from a local community or trade college could be a good place to start as well. I taught myself enough to know my way around but also identity my own weaknesses. I'll bet +Leslie Flinger +Astacia Carter or +Lotus Carroll could recommend someone.
  • Dave Elliott: wordpress. Its a great platform and because a lot of people use it there are millions of themes and plugins that you can add to it. If you are going with a "build my own website" type platform i had a quick play with square space and it is actually pretty good.
