Change Google+ custom URL

I have been handling a hotel`s Google+ verified page for last 2 years. But a little while back, the hotel changed its name.

Now we want to make edits to the Google+ custom URL as we don`t want to start a new page with zero followers and reviews. As far as my information goes, I can only change the formatting of the URL. But that doesn`t solve my problem.

So anyone`s there who could tell me what option(s) do I have now?

  • Jim Munro: Hi +Pulkit Khurana ;, thank you for your participation here. :)
+Masatake Wasa ;would probably know best but as far as I know, custom urls are set in concrete and can never be changed. I think the only workaround if the custom url is that important would be to create a new page but +Tim Capper ;would be the right man to advise you on this.
  • Suraj Gadage: +Pulkit Khurana ;You can only change the capitalization and diacritics of the URL, not the URL itself.
  • Pulkit Khurana: +Jim Munro: Thanks for your response. Ya I do aware of the guidelines. But there must be a way of getting around.

There are so many hotels rebranding and changing owners.

So Google doesn't want us to create a new account that will not only lose us followers, but Booking.com ads feed on our G+ page as well.
  • Pulkit Khurana: +Suraj Gadage Many thanks for your response!
  • Masatake Wasa (wasaweb): As far as I am aware, +Jim Munro ;and +Suraj Gadage ;are absolutely correct, and that's certainly been the case with Google+ profiles and brand pages. I'm not sure if you can contact Google My Business support to prompt a change: +Tim Capper ;would know.
  • Tim Capper: You can try contacting business support. Inform them of Name change, they may be able to reset the custom url.
  • Pulkit Khurana: +Tim Capper +Masatake Wasa many thanks for the advice! I'll definitely contact the team and let you guys inform if the things work out.
