Date appear right before the meta description in SERP

For some of our websites, we are seeing a date appear right before the meta description in search results. I attached an example of our website in search. Does anyone know where this date is coming from? We do not want this date here and want it removed.

  • Matthew Brown: It should be your publish date.
  • Suraj Gadage: +Valentina Huff ;When you use WP CMS, you have two ways to publish you content.
    1. Post Type - This is used to create/publish blog articles
    2. Page Type- This is used to create/publish webpages

See this snapshot of my blog search results for clarification.

In your case for publishing webpage type of content you have used 'Post Type' method and that's why you see the time stamp in search results.

    How do you fix it?
    1. Create a new page (using Page Type method) and paste the content of 'SEO' page
    2. Install a 301 redirect plugin (recommended plugin EggPlant 301 redirect) and add a 301 redirect to the new webpage.

    Hope this helps!
  • Valentina Huff: +Suraj Gadage ;OMG thank you so much this is so helpful!!! I am going to try it and get back to you on whether or not it worked. Thanks again, much appreciated!!!
  • Suraj Gadage: +Valentina Huff ;One more thing, once you make the changes, use Fetch and Render feature in webmasters tool to submit the new URL to search index.
  • Ryan Cramer: This particular page is set up as a post, not a page.  ;In that case you may want to edit your post.php file to remove the vcard information that relates to the updated date.  ;Even if you do not have this information in your meta section, Google picks up on date structures (displayed or not) in order to "help" you. Unfortunately, not many people see the value of having the date stamp... but that's another topic.

Another place that Google will pick up the modified date is in your sitemaps.  ;You may need to look into your Yoast settings in order to disable that field from being rendered on the sitemaps.
