  I've been working on a site that's been hit by penguin and rightfully so, (the old SEO did an insane amount of back link building on random sites) and I just finished creating a huge disavow file which was uploaded about 2 minutes ago.
  
  Does anyone know about how long can it take before the penguin algo runs again and removed penalties? -Chase

  Rick Bucich: Two issues and an incomplete answer. 1) Google must re-crawl all of the pages in the disavow file before an algo action can take place. This can be a considerable about of time depending on the sites in question. 2) Penguin needs to re-run but one should occur this quarter.

  Dave Elliott: if it is a manual penalty then it will need to be manually checked, so depends on how much Google likes you! if it just an algo thing then it will happen as and when your site/other sites are re-crawled. So could be up to a month.
