I`ve started looking into SEO field as I find it extremely interesting.

Hi guys

So I`m just starting into the seo world properly. Been in web development for years and now I`ve started looking into SEO field as I find it extremely interesting.

So I`ll be starting with Wordpress and customising them and working on the seo of the site. I`ve been reading a good bit online, looking at udemy.com and other places as well as seo Mozart started guide. Is there anywhere else I can look and study and gain a bit more knowledge?

Cheers

  • Andy Wigglesworth: This post by +Amit Singhal ;is always worth a read on quality of websites, ;http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/more-guidance-on-building-high-quality.html

    If you haven't read the google starter docs, here it is (I think i have the right one, if not I am sure someone will pick me up on it)-
     ;http://static.googleusercontent.com/media/www.google.com/en//webmasters/docs/search-engine-optimization-starter-guide.pdf

    As a final note, stick around on a SEO community you'll pick things up quickly.
  • Richard Anderson: Hi Andy

    Thanks for the comment. I guess like anything else its a steep learning curve. ;

    The articles look brilliant I will definitely be reading them. I will be looking around on how to start optimising a site from scratch and making sure I got all the basics covered. Just a tad worried that i wont grasp the basics even as there seems to be a lot there.
  • Warren Chandler: +Richard Anderson ;You're along the right lines.  ;The Moz.com starter guide is an excellent place to start, but don't go over-optimising to begin with.  ;This is a mistake that many make and it actually hinders your efforts to rank if you make some rudimentary mistakes.

    As +Andy Wigglesworth ;hinted, Google+ communities are a great place to pick up advice and to stay current on what works.  ;Take a look around and don't be afraid to ask questions.  ;The Dumb SEO Questions community ( https://plus.google.com/communities/110526883334667803217 ) is a good place for a starter and +Jim Munro ;may be a useful person to follow with this in mind.

    As a final note, WordPress is excellent for SEO, so investigate some of the popular plugins available for SEO and gauge their effectiveness.  ;I tend to utilise All in One SEO Pack and Google XML Sitemaps for many of my sites, while other's use +Joost de Valk's excellent SEO plugin.  ;

    Oh, okay one final note.  ;Don't get too disheartened with the SEO industry when things don't instantly work out.  ;In all honesty Google has got itself into a bit of a mess of late and you won't be alone in being faced with its failings.  ;

    All the best.
  • Yasser Mohamed: Hi +Richard Anderson I am a carpet cleaner and I do all my own SEO and started by reading everything I could - mostly the references mentioned here. ; I use the SEO plugin by +Joost de Valk and it is fantastic for on page SEO and installing authorship - makes it pretty easy. I also spent a lot of time here in this community reading everything I could and asking lots of questions. If I can do it - you can too. ; It is a steep learning curve but you will work it out.
  • Matt Staton: Moz and Google starter guides
  • RACHIT GUPTA: yah.. mulitple resource online like seo roundtable, search engine watch, google help center, google blogs etc,.. go head dear :)@rachitseo
  • Nagesh shukla: +Richard Anderson ;hey try reading this ;http://www.allseoguidelines.com You can get All Official SEO Guidelines here
  • Richard Anderson: Thanks guys. This has been a massive help. I cannot understand why people don't use this instead of Facebook. I'll be using google articles and delve further then I'd say
