Is it better to have a side menu or drop-down menus?

Silly question time again.....Is it better to have a side menu or drop-down menus. i`ve just changed mine to the latter and i am now wondering if i`ve done the right thing. Does it matter for seo??

Michae l: Doesn't really matter much, if it's a decent modern CMS then Google should be able to "read" the links from a drop down menu.

However, having both a HTML sitemap page (a page with links to all your pages and content), plus a sitemap.xml page to submit to Google & Bing Webmasters is the best way to make sure your content gets indexed.
Internet Marketing and Web Content Strategy Tips: I agree that it doesn't really matter, as long as you have great structure and hierarchy of information in the navigation.
