I have a page that is no longer up to date

Hi all, what would be the best way to approach pages with events that have passed or content that is no longer up to date? Is there merit in keeping them for SEO purposes or is it better to take them down if they are no longer relevant?

  • Daniel Granovetter: It`s best to deprioritize content that`s out of date or no longer relevant.

  • Alex Harford: I generally recommend removing old event pages if they no longer have value, with a 410 (ideally) or 404 server status. Consider 301 redirecting any with good backlinks to the closest equivalent page.

If events are continually the same, consider whether URLs need to change for new events or if after a certain time, new events could be included at the `old` URLs.
