  • Neeraj Kumar: +Jim Munro I gone incognito and searched Jim Munro authorship and got below result with google+ links of Jim Munro in snippets. Share your thoughts...
  • Jim Munro: My photo does not appear because I have rel=author links on home pages or at least I think that's why it is. I have other links in other places that predate the inception of authorship. I don't know why I should have to change them but one day when I get time and the inclination I will probably rectify that.

Was that the question you were asking, Neeraj?
  • Neeraj Kumar: I also want to know that in incognito mode, i am seeing google authorship of other people and that in google+ post as snippets. So google widely allow authorship on content which is linked to the author but without ?rel=author. Or all posts on google+ auto-relate to author google+profile? Or there is a flaw in my understanding of google authorship! +Jim Munro
  • Jim Munro: I think +Tim Capper ;or +Masatake Wasa ;might know more on this. If you search for the keyword "author " (add a space and there should be 14) you will find that G+ has listed my authorship links including one from a site that is not listed in the search result. It must be useful to them in some way but I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

  • Masatake Wasa: I'm slightly lost. If it's on plus.google.com, then the author is clear (the profile that posted the posts) and it wouldn't rely on any link between the Google+ profile and an external site.

Otherwise Google does assign authorship from context, and there have been cases where Google has been over-zealous: in things like multi-author blog, where some authors have Google+ profiles, and others do not.
