HTML table vs Table as image

Hi, if I make a table of data in excel and then crop it and insert it into an article as an image, will that be detrimental for SEO compared with using a WordPress table plugin?

Michael Martinez: I wouldn`t say "detrimental for SEO" but it won`t contribute anything useful. Images are not indexable - just the meta data you include with them (e.g., image title, file name, caption, ALT= text, etc.).For me the question would be, how important is it for people to find tabular data or would it be okay if they just find the table?
