  • Michael Martinez: Remember there are no industry standards in search engine optimization.
  • Dylan Loge: Michael Martinez Noted. Thanks.
  • Terry Samuels: Build your own site and rank it...
  • Ahmed Kasim Rashid: the perfect answer - that is how I started
  • Zachary Green: dont do it
  • Dylan Loge: Zachary Green Why do you say that?
  • Stephen Kaufman: Remember when building your “brand” to use proper spelling and grammar.
  • Eric Leyendecker: Stephen Kaufman what`s fucked is that I watch established businesses/media companies have poor spelling to the point where whole conversations happen about it in comments... Which then leads to more reach because of the activity on the post..
  • Bo Linde: Stephen Kaufman Agree. But I am not sure that it is something that Google is ranking for..?
  • Stephen Kaufman: Bo Linde the original question has been edited, it said “1st piece of advice to someone band new to SEO?”
  • Dylan Loge: Stephen Kaufman Close but no Cigar. It was even worse than that.
  • Stephen Kaufman: Dylan Loge i must have missed it lol
  • Steve Toth: Spend more time on the SERP than you do reading or watching YouTube videos.
  • James Slattery: Steve Toth 100%. Wise words
  • Adam J. Humphreys: Focus on customer conversions with accountability via tracked goals, write to consumer search intent, and make changes that have the most impact first.
  • Dylan Loge: Good to know.
  • Dylan Loge: Adam J. Humphreys How long have you been in the game?
  • Adam J. Humphreys: Dylan Loge since I was 19 years old. I’m a little too comfortable for my own good lol.
  • Arthur Thomas: If you are trying to get a job, do a few jobs for free for non-profits on sites like catchafire, make a really nice spreadsheet (I mean go at it, make it flashy with green cells for PASS and red cells for FAIL text typed in `em) to show off all the work you did and show you got basic on/offpage seo on grind (also setup a google ads campaign too), and on top of that, you actually have the confidence to know you can do it. You can do three ten or less page sites in two weeks if you gun it.Also cold call local SEOs asking if they need a part time helper, that plus my "resume" of working on (for me I only needed one...) a few sites and showing what you can do should be enough. I spent weeks filling out resumes online, and in ONE DAY I made 20 cold calls and got my first job. It`s even better if you have a physical resume and go to the businesses themselves - its much easier for you to get a job when you are a person - not resume #164.That got me my first gig, and I didn`t have to spend 5 months ranking a site like everyone else recommends you do.
  • Dylan Loge: Arthur Thomas Good stuff. Thank you.
  • Brett Sullivan: Absorb ever piece of information you can. Then take 1/2 of that info and toss it out the window.Keep up to date with constant updates and changes. Most of the core practices remain the same over time.
  • Ovidiu Cigoianu: Pay attention to details. Every single one bring a Little slice of your Rank pie.
  • Ovidiu Cigoianu: And dont try to cheat Google.
  • Irene Kwamboka: Ovidiu Cigoianu yes you can
  • Irene Kwamboka: Look at serps, ie. Search engines results
  • Deb Mukherjee: Even an SEO with 25 years of experience can`t guarantee you ranking for anything.
  • Emily Retherford: Try new things. Then, test, test, and test again.
  • Prince Kapoor: Focus on marketing before you go for SEO. Like instead of looking for keywords, understand buyer persona/ target audience first.Once you get a good hold of buyer persona, pain points objection etc, it will be easy for you to finalize keywords for main/ money pages, blog section etc.Follow slow and steady way, don`t rush.
  • Suresh Kumar G: Get an awesome mentor! This will speed up learning and also experience.
  • Kunjal Chawhan: Suresh Kumar G this is the best advice
  • Cristinel Stroe: Be organised, be organised, be organised... Test, test, test.... Oh and focus. You`ll find find that is so hard to focus when the results aren`t showing up tomorrow.
  • Nathan Bradshaw: Do more than read or watch
  • Greg Yontz: Start yesterday, but now works.. lol get started. It all adds up.
  • Dylan Loge: Greg Yontz I like it.
  • Dylan Loge: Greg Yontz Have you been in SEO for a while now?
  • Frank Geric: Google doesn’t tell us exactly what they are ranking, but best practices haven’t changed that much over the last 5 to 10 years (with the exception of mobile first indexing.) Focus on giving site visitors a great experience with a fast, well-organized site where it’s easy to find what they are looking for, and easy to know how to take the next step.

  • Mark Alie Montero: One advice that I would like to give is follow the basics first and also, to choose the right tools for automating the business. This will save a lot of time and money both. For eg. while doing YouTube marketing, one can rank their videos with the help of Tuberank Jeet. It provides the best title, keyword, and hashtags. Like wise there are many tools one can consider.
  • Dylan Loge: Thank you for sharing.
  • Ashley Thompson: Be patient and consistent. Slow and steady wins the race.
  • Ace Bailey: Optimize your content for Humans and AI. It`s tricky but once you get it, Google will reward you for great content and structure.
  • Ace Bailey: Content optimized for humans and AI is the ticket.
  • Kamran Asghar: The 1st thing I would tell someone new to SEO is to be patient. There are no overnight successes when it comes to SEO. You will need to put in some serious work before seeing any results.
  • Matt Keter: If you’re into SEO as a service - differentiate or die. On the product level. If you’re learning it to get traffic - stop. Building someone’s platform to risk losing it all within a snap is not the great play. You can get traffic partnering with other list owners and splitting profits.
