Aaron Smith: is there any way of finding out if my current hosting company has a bad reputation and is effecting my google rankings??
Dave Elliott: check its down time stats, its speed and ;that its servers are in the country you wish to rank for(debatable). Nothing else should really affect your rankings.
Aaron Smith: what if they also host "bad" websites, spam, porn etc, does that make a difference?
Mike Cooke: suppose you could always look at googling the company and asking on a few forums for experiences. Also if you know the ip of any of their servers you could see if the ip is blacklisted through spam. ;
Frank Rodríguez: +Aaron Smith ;check your neighbours if you have them with ;http://www.my-ip-neighbors.com/ ;(if porno or doggy sites tell host to change to a more "friendly" neighbourhood) Later , type the hosting company in google as +Mike Cooke ;suggests for comments , ip blacklist etc. Cheers
E.Dieter Martin: Your IP neighbors influence your ranking only by lowering your response time. I've also found the forums at webhostingtalk a decent source of information about hosting providers.
