  • Mike Cooke: I have an idea and was thinking if everyone could help as a community. • Mikita Shah: Hi +Mike Cooke I think u hv a good approach and it wud come out successfully and above that this could save time and help seo people in various ways.
  • Mike Cooke: Awesome glad you like the idea what would be the best way to start, what is good for everyone.
  • Gareth Marshall: Glad I could spawn an idea, Mike! Yes this would be a perfect addition to this community.
  • Mike Cooke: I am looking at it now, possibly an google extension.
  • Mikita Shah: Let see what works best..
  • Dave Elliott: Got no problem contributing to it but don't think it should be endorsed by this community or anything. Although if raven tools want to give me a free copy of its enterprise solution I will happily add it to the list (he says sarcastically to illustrate the problem with a community endorsing stuff!)
  • Mike Cooke: lol, i was more thinking or just everyone saying what they believe are the best tools and revising what is put up. There would be no favoritism towards any company. Ill make a quick bookmark html for a start and put it on pastebin. More the idea off add all in and let people make their own choices and a good place to start for some people. However i like the raventools idea... count me in lol....
  • Dave Elliott: Ahh sorry I obviously inferred something that wasn't there. I think there was a question from Kate toon a couple weeks ago asking for all our top 3 programmes. Certainly a good start.
  • Jim Munro: There are many external references like that on the net already, +Mike Cooke ;but what they lack is credibility and integrity.

I think peer review and full disclosure is the right direction to head in. It might take a whole lot longer to get to first base but eventually we could build a resource that is useful, as well as trusted.

I will create another sub-community SEO TOOLS and link to it from the rest of our communities.

I'd like to know what you think of the few simple rules I have added. (I would like to keep it simple).
  • Dave Elliott: this could be interesting, but i can't help but feel that if i was going to do a proper review of an seo tool i'd chuck it up on a blog rather than straight on a community. Would it be ok to just post a link to a review i have written on a personal blog, or do you want this kept unique?
  • Jim Munro: I don't care if any post made is not unique providing it is useful but I don't think a link alone on the community would be useful to anyone or acceptable.

There are millions of review lists like this on the web, what would be the purpose or point of discernment for one more?

The community created as a result of Mike's prompting is different because it will have peer review and oversight.
