  • Mehar Bhagat (MB): +Storm Dezignz ;Glad to hear that the Q&A video did help you.

    I noticed you have already installed the SEO plugin by ;Yoast, ;however you still need to add the title, description, keywords and an image with 1200*640 pixel.

    also remove www. from twitter link on your website for the link to work. ;
  • Storm Dezignz: Mehar I just wanted to confirm. So I do not need to add the title ect to images of I'm using yoast? Remove them correct?
  • Mehar Bhagat (MB): yoast provides you a platform to enter your meta tags like title, description, keywords and images. you need to manually add them in the yoast plugin on the pages. When you edit your front page or any other page, you will see yoast plugin setting on the same page below the post area.  ;
  • Storm Dezignz: Oh sorry i misunderstood your post earlier my apologies. Yes i'm familiar with this ;
  • On Page Assistant: This is something which I do almost on a daily basis because it's part of On-page SEO I am doing so let me make my say on this. I agree with what David has said on the video that it plays no direct part at all in increasing rankings. However, that statement is basically one of the reasons why Meta description has been overlooked. The truth is, meta description is one of the many meta tags that every page has or should have. While it plays no direct link with increasing ranking, it is nevertheless very important in driving traffic to a website especially in maintaining high clickthrough rate from the search results. With this, it may not be amiss to say that it could indirectly affect rankings.

    And while it is true that Google has the say on what description it displays on the search results, it however uses the meta description you make for any page almost all of the time. If you have not made any tabbed data on your pages and if the description you use for that page is relevant to the content on that page, I can wager that Google will pick your meta description as is. Your meta description also shows your uniqueness. You can use it to draw more clicks just like what an ad does. So if you want to take advantage of the indirect benefit it provides, you should make sure every page has it.

    Google displays meta title up to 512px and meta description up to 923px. For the meta title therefore it is in 55-60 characters (I use up to 70 for the sites I am optimizing) and description is 152-155 (I use up to 160 for the sites I am optimizing). Start your meta description with attention grabbing phrase and if you can include a keyword or two, the better. While most SEOs do not think it is a good idea but I can vouch that having a keyword or two there plays an important factor in ranking. In including your keywords however, make sure it makes sense and you shouldn’t do it if you don’t know how to make it grammatically correct.

    It would also work best for you if you can make your description welcoming and assuring. It should let your audience know what it is that your page offers. You should not craft it in such a way that they will still need to make a wild guess on your product or service otherwise, they will click on another item on the search result which they think pretty describes what they want to see. You can include call of action too and unlike what’s being allowed on ads, you can use CAPITAL letters to grab attention, say “Your website deserves a leap in its search engine rankings.
