  • Adam Percento: How would I determine a pre test rough estimate on online sales of a product based on the average number of monthly internet searches?
  • Tony McCreath: First reduce monthly searches to reflect the region you sell in. If the term gets localised results then reduce a lot more.

    Estimate traffic. Very rough estimate is:

    Top of Google = 40%
    Bottom of page 1 = 2%

    Then work out sales per visitor. Let's say 1%

    Multiply all those numbers together to work out how many sales you will get. ;

    Say a term gets 10,000 monthly searches in your country (a popular search) and it does not show localised results.

    If you are on page one for that term and get 1% conversion rate, you should get from 40 to 2 sales a month.
